Frequently Asked Questions
-
This training asks for your full presence, curiosity, and willingness to engage. It’s a deeply experiential program that invites you to show up wholeheartedly for yourself, your peers, and your growth. You’ll be asked to participate in discussions, teach, practice, reflect, and support others as they do the same.
Beyond showing up physically, this training calls for a personal commitment to self-study, integrity, and community. The more consistent your presence and energy, the more you’ll gain from the experience. To fulfill the certification, trainees must complete:
All required hours (contact and non-contact)
All written and practical assignments
A final teaching practicum and evaluation
Full tuition payment
-
Absolutely. Many trainees join the program simply to deepen their own practice, learn the "why" behind the poses, explore nervous system regulation, and better understand fascia, breath, and relaxation. You don’t need to plan on teaching professionally to benefit from this training. That said, learning to teach is an important part of the curriculum and one of the most powerful ways to embody what you’re learning. Guiding others helps you find your voice, refine your understanding, and build confidence in your own practice. Even if you never lead a public class, you’ll leave with skills that enrich how you communicate, hold space, and connect with others in every part of your life. Some careers that could benefit from this knowledge are massage therapists, counsellors, physiotherapists, fitness instructors, doulas, or occupational therapists.

Our training will be led by Leah Hansen and Ilana Tanzi.
About Leah:
Leah has been drawn to intentional movement throughout her life, cultivating a deep connection to dance, yoga, and the transformative power of stillness. For over six years, she has shared restorative practices, flowing vinyasa, and immersive stretching with communities across New York, Las Vegas, and Vancouver.
With over 500 hours of yoga education, a BFA in Dance, and experience leading multiple teacher trainings, Leah brings a unique blend of embodied knowledge, creative movement, and thoughtful instruction to her work. Her approach centers breath, mindfulness, and curiosity, inviting students to experience movement as a pathway to deeper self-awareness and connection.
As a teacher trainer, Leah is passionate about creating spaces where teachers can slow down, listen inward, and deepen their understanding of restorative practice- both as a teaching tool and as a way of being.
About Ilana:
Ilana comes from a background in performing arts that has taken her through college, across the states, and overseas. By earning her 200-hour certification in 2020, she discovered her passion for teaching and never looked back. Today, Ilana is certified in Vinyasa, Prenatal, Yin, Restorative, and Yoga Sculpt. She is also a birth doula.
Drawing on her extensive dance background and a strong foundation in kinesiology and anatomy, Ilana brings both technical knowledge and a deeply intuitive approach to her teaching. She uses metaphor as a powerful tool for helping students connect more deeply to their practice: the mat as a mirror, the body as a house, the breath as a partner.
Ilana believes that Yin Yoga offers a unique opportunity to listen inward and explore our relationship with discomfort- not as something to avoid, but instead as something to lean into. After years of witnessing the practice transform her students, she is passionate about sharing the depth, stillness, and self-awareness that Yin can cultivate both on and off the mat.

In this training, your presence deeply matters as you’ll become part of a dedicated community of trainees and teachers who learn, practice, and evolve together. The friendships formed often become one of the most meaningful aspects of the journey. Trainees are expected to:
Attend all scheduled sessions on time and in full.
Communicate promptly with the program director if illness, emergencies, or unavoidable conflicts arise.
Remain engaged and present throughout each day.
Your steady presence supports both your own growth and the integrity of the group, and excessive absences or repeated lateness may affect certification eligibility.
